Overview

This site supports the Scouting activities of the Haynes District within the South Plains Council of the Boy Scouts of America

The Haynes District forms the northern border of the South Plains Council. Communities of the Haynes District include Tulia, Hale Center, Plainview, Dimmitt, Silverton, Quitaque and others. The units in our area are sponsored by local schools, churches and civic organizations. Scouts benefit the local community through service projects, Eagle projects and area wide “Good Turns.”

Talk about camping! The Haynes District is home to some of the prettiest Texas country and is home of Caprock Canyons State Park. Feel free to contact our District leadership as described below to get information about local events and how to sign up if you're not already involved in one of Scouting's many programs.

The district also hosts an associated chapter of the Nakona Lodge of Scouting's national honor society, the Order of the Arrow, an excellent way to involve exemplary Scouts in service to their units, the district, council and community.

District Contacts and Information

Our District Executive is Patrick Tran.  He can be contacted via the Council Office as listed on the South Plains Council Web site, or directly by email if needed.  Jimmy Rogers is the District Chairman, and Charles Starnes serves as the District Commissioner. Danny Huggins serves as OA Chapter Adviser.

As a general guide, unless listed differently in the calendar shown to the right, District Committee meetings are held the first Monday evening of each month beginning 7:00 pm.

Roundtables are generally held the first Thursday evening of each month beginning 7:00 pm at the First Presbyterian Church. This is a great way for ALL adult leaders and youth interested in improving the value and quality of the Scouting program for their units to learn how to do so.  Order of the Arrow chapter meetings are tentatively planned to be held at the same time and evening at the same location.

We are also planning to set up Commissioner Huddles each Thursday evening.
